A good multivitamin and calcium supplement will be needed for these tortoises.

Humidity: Humidity levels should be maintained between 60% and 70% for the Flat-Tailed Tortoise.
Lighting: As with most turtles and tortoises, the Flat-Tailed Tortoise will need at least 12 hours of UVB light per day.
Size: An enclosure that is at least 2 feet by 3 feet will be needed for this species.
Substrate: Using a substrate such as cyprus mulch and misting it daily will help you to keep the humidity level as high as these tortoises require.
Temperature: The Flat-Tailed Tortoise has one of the greater tolerances for temperature ranges when it comes to tortoises. A temperature gradient should be provideed for them that ranges from 80 degrees F to 90 degrees F.
