Head

As most people are aware turtles and tortoises have the ability to hide their entire head underneath their shells. This allows them to feel protected when they become spooked or there is a predator in the area.

The jaws of turtles are usually very strong and powerful even in some smaller turtles. Carnivorous turtles have especially strong jaws as they must crush and eat their food which can include snails and crayfish. Turtles do not actually have teeth, but instead have tiny horns lined along their jaws which from a distance may look like teeth.
